Lieutenant Nathan Sugarman

Lieutenant Nathan Sugarman was born in Indianapolis. He grew up in French Lick Indiana. After high school he attended the University of Southern Indiana and earned a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. Lt. Sugarman started his law enforcement career as a Trooper with the Indiana State Police. He joined the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office in 1999. Since that time, he has served in Motor Patrol as Field Training Deputy and as a Narcotics Detective. In 2007 he was promoted to Sergeant where he supervised Motor Patrol. He also served as a Detective Sergeant for 9 years before being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2018.

Lieutenant Sugarman enjoys spending his time off with his family and playing golf. He also volunteers at Albion Fellows Bacon Center and the Tri-State Food Bank. His favorite quote is “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
